I ordered this from Sephora because I felt like the beauty world “owed” me a foundation. Silly I know, but I had got excited about and bought the Too Faced born this way one, and the Nars all day luminous one, but neither of them worked for me and were more for dry skin girls I felt. This one sounded ideal – very pigmented but fluid. This is the description from the website:
“Foundation coverage that lasts all day long. Get 24-hour wear and flawless coverage in an instant with this ultra-lightweight foundation concentrate. Featuring a revolutionary oil-free formula that contains twice as much pigment as a leading full-coverage foundation, it’s infused with innovative ingredients that completely cover with spot-on perfection. It’s enriched with Marc Jacobs’ patented golden pigments that are wrapped in lecithin—an ingredient that’s biochemically similar to skin—for immediate, effortless blending and a smooth, soft matte finish. This foundation has a one-of-a-kind dot applicator that allows for custom coverage. Just shake, dot, and blend for perfectly-matte coverage”
I agree with a lot of the above so far, but not all. I’ve worn the foundation about 6 or 7 times, and it does last all day and is very pigmented. I can’t say that I agree with the effortless blending – it seems to dry super fast and doesn’t spread very easily – I feel like this would be best used immediately after your moisturiser and without primer, which sounds counterintuitive if you have oily skin I know. It IS a smooth soft matte finish but again with the custom coverage claim, I’m not sure – I have found it very hard to get anything but a full coverage with the foundation as its so so pigmented and not easy to blend which means you can’t just for example put one dot on your nose, chin & forehead as it wouldn’t cover the outside of your face. Hope that makes sense! I will be doing a video review of this foundation which should explain it better.
It sounds like I don’t like the foundation, but I honestly do. I know that I just need to perfect my application technique. This morning I tried with a beauty blender, which does help with making it look less cakey. The colour I chose is 28 Bisque Taupe and its a bit too dark for unfortunately. I have ordered the colour 2 shades lighter so hopefully that will be a better match. They offer 22 colours with tones of peach, pink, yellow and neutral.
