Ladies, I’m in a huff with weight and weight loss, quelle surprise. I’m 12stone 2 and was hoping to have dropped a few pounds for IMATS. I haven’t been to the gym for a month due to the chest infection, and now I’m finally feeling much better, but my joint pain has flared up (from the EDS) and I have a weird new symptom of feeling dizzy when I bend over or put my weight on one side. I also realise how unmotivated I am even if I didn’t have those excuses – I just don’t enjoy the gym, it’s something I force myself to do. Strangely though, if I have a treadmill at home (which I have done before, twice), I do actually use it. Alas, we just don’t have the room in the house just now.
As is my way, I’m always trying something new to figure out how to lose weight, & after having a long bath and pondering why I end up eating rubbish some of the time, I realised it’s down to my impatience and how important time is to me. So lunchtime arrives and if I haven’t precooked myself something or planned something that is easy to throw together, I will be too hungry to start making things like salmon or eggs on toast, and I end up instead having a piece of toast and butter. This has no protein in it which then spikes my blood sugar making me reach for more toast or carby rubbish things like crisps, or whatever I have in the house. Enter the nutribullet idea – not only will it be quick to whizz up a drink that should fill me up, I’ll be able to get some of my 5 a day that I’m not great at achieving. Winner. Ordered. Arrived. Trialled. Not keen.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s an amazing gadget and I’m not putting it up for sale just yet, but I have only found one smoothie that I like – peanut butter & milk. Hardly nutritious and certainly not low cal. I did add some flax seeds and a little bit of spinach but I could taste the spinach and won’t be doing that again. The first one I made was raspberry, banana, spinach, and some blueberries. It was ok, but just not sweet enough for my taste so I added some agave and again I could taste the spinach which I didn’t like. The 2nd one was blueberries, raspberries, milk, avocado, and agave. It was ok but I’d have been happy eating the blueberries & raspberries on their own!
I feel like some people are born with “skinny taste”. My hubby for example, loves vegetables, salads, and hates anything that tastes creamy. I’m the complete opposite. I’m hoping that its just a case of finding the right recipe for a smoothie I can drink that has some protein to fill me up and balance my sugar, some veg, and some appeal!
Anyone got a favourite smoothie recipe?! Like I said, its a great gadget – fast, slimline, easy to clean, and really does make everything, well, smooth!
