The gnawing is at all time high :0( Thankfully though, his appointment is on Wednesday so hopefully I’ll get a chance to update you on what he may be allergic to. I’m currently putting coconut oil on his paws when he goes crazy and that does seem to stop him if only for an hour. He also likes to lick my hands afterwards which is fine as I believe coconut oil is good for them to consume also.
He has got his appetite back now after a while off his food which is nice to see, but we have also realised that what we thought was him “growing up and calming down” was actually probably just a tummy bug. He didn’t eat most of the day and would finally eat a little of his dinner, and was sleeping a lot. If he wasn’t sleeping, he was lying quietly by the window chewing his pizzle. We really did think, aaaah, at last he is becoming calmer, but nope, doesn’t seem like it!
The lack of cuddles has improved also – he used to be such a cuddly boy but has gone through a period of not wanting to be near us. Now again I wonder was that his tummy feeling upset – you know what it’s like, if you feel ill you don’t want anyone to touch you. He still not overly cuddly but he did fall asleep snuggled into me yesterday and I also had a nice 20 minute playtime up close which gives me the bonding I crave :0) I’m also “teaching” him to cuddle, i.e. putting my arms round him and saying cuddle then giving him a treat so that he knows that cuddles result in good things. Sneaky? ;0)
Our friends recommend the “dogrobe” you see him wearing in the photo above, and its not just a fashion statement although how cute?! It’s for after they have had a bath or been in the water or heavy rain etc. It’s fantastic and works a treat – you can get them from www.dogrobes.co.uk
